Things to Do in Huntley, IL

Downtown Huntley and McHenry County host an assortment of festivals, free concerts, and celebrations throughout the year, but there are also plenty of outdoor activities for those wanting to breathe some fresh air! Guests can also find activities at Harmony Inn. Enjoy the fire and a glass of wine with a friend while you cook dinner on the grill out on the patio just outside of your room. Watch the wildlife run by while you relax. You might even hear the coyotes in the area. If you would like the turkeys to come and visit you just let us know. Our turkeys, ducks and geese will come over for a bit of lettuce that you hand feed them. Choose Harmony Inn for a unique stay unlike any other stay you have had.

Tower Hill Stables

If you love to ride horseback check out Tower Hill Stables in nearby Hampshire, Illinois.  They have trail rides, a petting zoo and much more.

Sky Soaring Glider Club

Located in Hampshire, Illinois, the Glider Airport is just 4 miles from Harmony Inn, Huntley, IL.  It is where friends meet and spirits soar!  We recently visited and took rides and had a wonderful time.  Follow the link and check this place out.  It is open seasonally when the weather is right to fly.

Richardson Farm Corn Maze

The world's largest corn maze is just 30 minutes from Harmony Inn in Spring Grove Illinois.  Check this link to visit their website.  This farm is very diversified.  In the spring they have a tulip field that is fantastic!!  A total of 900,000 bulbs are planted for a huge spring field of color.  You won't want to miss visiting it, but weekdays are best to avoid the crowds.  
In the fall after people are done walking the world's largest corn maze, they allow people on horseback to explore the maze.  People are charged a fee, but not the horses.  I wonder how much corn the horses eat while exploring?  LOL, a bunch I bet.  
Near Christmas, this farm sells Christmas trees.  
We had a guest recently stop here to walk the corn maze but due to the wait time, they continued on with their plans.  
The zip line tower also seems like an exciting adventure.  
While I am not doing zip lines anymore, if I were younger, I would be sure to check this off my to do list.

The Huntley Farmer's Market

The Huntley Farmers Market is held each Saturday from 8am - 1pm on Coral Street, Church Street, and the Town Square.  Harmony Inn participated in the Chamber Day Farmer's Market event this summer.  Everyone loved the ducks we provided for anyone to hold.  It seems ducks and farmer's markets really go together.  
There are many other special farmer's market events held throughout the summer.  The Village of Huntley works very hard to run a well-organized event.  All of the products sold meet strict quality guidelines and sellers provide insurance before they can participate.

Illinois Railway Museum

The railroad is an essential part of Illinois history! If you're wanting to learn more about these historical "steel beasts" you can visit this highly interactive and exciting museum.

You'll see classic train cars, as well as more modern ones. You can hitch a ride and meet the crews who operate them today! Check the calendar of events, its loaded with special activities!

Nature Centers

A walk at sunset in a local park can be a very peaceful adventure.  This photo was taken at the Coral Ridge Conservation District Park.   This park is just a few miles from Harmony Inn and well worth a visit.   It shows your host David enjoying the trails. 

Few things are more peaceful than walking in the forest, surrounded by the lush greens, chirping birds, and streams of sunlight. While there aren't many hikes in our neck of the woods, there are a ton of nature centers with trails for you to explore.

Crystal Lake Park, Hawthorne Hill Nature Center, and Creek Bend Nature Center all have trails that guide you through some of Illinois's flora.

Three Oaks Recreation Area

Fisherman and boaters will be thrilled to hear that we have a rec area nearby. If you have an Illinois Fishing License, you can enjoy hauling in some impressive fish over an afternoon.

After a day on the lake, you can enjoy some of the nearby hiking trails and the water park for children. It's a ton of fun for the whole family!

If you are interested in buying, repairing, or trading a Recreational Vehicle, Huntley has a very large sales center located at the Huntley exit of Interstate 90.  They sell every size you can imagine.  Just contact a salesman and set up a tour.

This service is only available for airport trips.  We experienced first-hand the excellent service when our daughter used them to fly out of town recently.  Many guests have also had excellent service.  For example, one guest flew in from out of the country and did not have phone service.  The driver went above and beyond what was expected, by providing the guests with a phone to use while riding in the car.
